Hello, I’m Rafael Vega.

If you know me, you’ve probably seen me on the biggest fashion shows in Buenos Aires or on the covers of Latin American fashion magazines. For years, my job was to be the perfect male model; capturing the light, showcasing the clothes, and hitting the perfect pose. But a voice inside me always wanted more: not just to be an image, but to tell a story.

That’s why I left those familiar, comfortable runways behind and came to one of the most unexpected corners of the world: Cambodia.

Why Cambodia? Why Acting?

This decision might seem strange to everyone. Moving from Argentina to this ancient country in Southeast Asia is not a conventional career move. But I wanted to realize my acting dream in a geography where stories haven't been fully discovered yet.

Cambodia is not just about the magnificent Angkor Wat temples. There is incredible energy on the sets in Phnom Penh. Local productions and international co-productions are on the rise here. For an aspiring actor like me, coming from a different ethnic background, this market is both challenging and incredibly rewarding.

From Runway Light to Set Light

Modeling taught me how to be comfortable in front of the camera and use my body; but acting is a completely different discipline. When I walk into Casting rooms, simply "looking good" is no longer enough. I have to understand the script, feel the character's pain or joy, and convey the emotion accurately, even in a Khmer language environment.

  • Challenging Sets: The set environment in Cambodia is very different from the luxury shoots in Argentina. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes dusty, but always passionate. Here, the artists and crew create incredible visual depth even with limited resources. The cultural depth is felt in every scene.

My portfolio once only contained fashion shoots; now it holds dozens of lines I'm rehearsing for TV series and film selections. Every new role blends the warmth and emotionality of Argentina with Cambodia's unique tradition of storytelling.

This is my adventure—an adventure about leaving the comfort zone, shedding my model identity, and building my actor identity. And you know what? This is my new home and my new stage.
